Paul Pierce's twitter gets hacked

I say Pierce's twitter got hacked, because he released the following tweet after the game:
I told Wade I will fuck his mom like how my man D. West did his mans. Thats why I got ejected
I can't imagine anyone would believe Pierce would actually say that. The tweet has since been removed. For the record according to CBS Sports referee crew chief Dan Crawford gave the following explanation for the 2nd technical that ejected Pierce:
"It's what we call a verbal taunt. He directed profanity towards (Dwyane) Wade. And in the rulebook, that is a verbal taunt. And it just so happened to be Pierce's second technical foul."
So what are your thoughts on all of this?

Heat 99, Celtics 90 Game 1 Highlights

Box Score after the jump.

Heat stifle Celtics, take Game 1: MIA 99 BOS 90

Dwyane Wade led all scorers with 38 points as the Miami Heat dominated the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, setting the tone by pulling away late in the first half and handing Boston their first loss of the post-season with a 99-90 win.

Paul Pierce was ejected with seven minutes left in the game after a small confrontation with Dwyane Wade. Pierce had a confrontation earlier with James Jones, which resulted in a double technical. He finished the night with 19 points on 6 of 14 shooting.

Ray Allen led all Celtics scorers with 25 points drilling 5-of-8 from behind the arch. Boston needed a great game from Rajon Rondo but they didn't get it. He had eight points and seven assists.

James Jones came up huge for Miami off the bench, matching Ray Allen's 25 points and making 5 of 7 points from three-point range. LeBron James added 22 points for the Heat, blocking two shots and grabbing six rebounds. Chris Bosh was the only player to grab double-digit rebounds with 12.

After a close fought first quarter, the Heat ended up heading into halftime with a 15 point lead. They took control of the game behind Dwyane Wade's 23 first half points and James Jones' 4 of 5 shooting from behind the arch.

For Boston, Ray Allen was the only bright spot. He entered halftime with 13 points. Pierce turned the ball over twice as much as his point total (2) in the first half and joined Garnett with two fouls while Rondo had three.

Thibs Wins NBA Coach of the Year Award

Chicago Tribune
Capping a wildly successful first year, the Chicago Bulls' Tom Thibodeau will be named the NBA's Coach of the Year on Sunday, sources told the Tribune.

Thibodeau guided the Bulls to a league-best 62-20 record after 21 years as an assistant coach, establishing a defensive mindset and relentlessly pursuing the unattainable perfect game.

"I've never been around a coach who works as hard and wants to win as much as him," Derrick Rose said.

Thibodeau led the Bulls to the league's No. 1 seed despite major injuries to Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah. He won three Eastern Conference coach of the month awards along the way.

"I don't care about any of that stuff," Thibodeau said recently. "I just want to win."
Congrats to Thibs. I knew he'd do well once given the opportunity and he even exceeded expectations. I actually went to a basketball camp when I was a kid that he was an assistant at. The head coach basically didn't do anything and Thibs essentially ran it. Even with middle school kids he was really into it. I feel like I should have listened to him more, but he was still rocking a mullet back then and that sort of dissuaded me. I blame that mullet for my half ass defensive effort in High School. Anyway, congrats Coach. Good to see former Celtics doing it big.

Yeah I know the pic doesn't include Thibodeau, but I needed an excuse to post this pic of Scal.

Round 2 Game 1 Celtics at Heat 5/1

Boston Celtics (4-0) at Miami Heat (4-1)

Playoff Game #5 Road Game #3
TV:  ABC
Radio:  WEEI, WAXY
American Airlines Arena
Referees:  Dan Crawford, Derrick Collins, Ed Malloy

This is the matchup that everyone assumed would happen from the opening night of the regular season when they faced each other.  There are so many sub-plots in this series and there is sure to be plenty of drama.  The Celtics won 3 of 4 from the Heat in the regular season, losing only their last game when the Celtics were in the midst of their end of the year mini-slump.

For LeBron James, this has to be personal.  First of all, he hasn't been able to get past the Celtics in the playoffs since the 2007-08 season.  The Celtics embarrassed LeBron's Cavs in last year's playoffs as they were expected to steamroll through the playoffs but came up short as LeBron put in sub-par performances due to either his boo-boo elbow or his mother's indiscretions, depending on who you believe.

The Celtics bench, in spite of being loaded, played poorly against the Knicks.  In 3 of the 4 games, Doc was forced to play the starters more minutes because the bench was giving up leads and not playing well.  In the 4th game, the bench finally started to play well and even increased the lead when they were in.  The Celtics will need strong play from Big Baby, Jeff Green and Delonte especially.  Hopefully a few good days of practice will help them play up to their capabilities. Shaq's status is still up in the air as is the status of both Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller for the Heat.

It will be important for the Celtics to get off to a strong start in this game and in the series.  They need to get the first punch in and not let up.  They need to keep the Heat on their heels and not allow them to gain confidence in this series.

The Final Note is Ours: the Return of Rajon Rondo

"Although now called rondo form, the form started off in the Baroque period as the ritornello, from the Italian word ritornare meaning "to return" (...) Rondo as a character-type (as distinct from the form) refers to music that is fast and vivacious—normally allegro"

"a work or movement, often the last movement of a sonata"

"The rondo was very popular in the late 18th and the early 19th centuries, frequently providing the form for the final movements of sonatas, quartets, symphonies, and concertos"

I still remember those spring days in the soccer field, back in my school days. The most skilled players formed a circle around the subs and started passing the ball to each other. The objective was to take away the ball from them, and the task was as painful and fruitless as it could be. I started playing basketball because I finally kicked some leg in order to get the damn ball.

We called that to build a rondo.

More than twenty years later, things haven't changed that much. The only thing that has changed is that I'm now part of the winning team that builds the circle against the contender. I laugh and they try to kick, but I know for sure that there is no way they can take away what we are and what we want.

They will be rondo'd. The Heat will have to look for another league or sport to play after the beating they are about to suffer. Mr Bosh, maybe volleyball or softball would suit you?

As we wait for the start of the Boston-Miami series, I can only think about Rondo and the different ideas that build in my brain as a result of the mere mention of the guy that will make a difference in the games.

What the Hell Happened to...Charlie Scott?

Playing for North Carolina and the Celtics is quite the combination.  For the second time in WTHHT, we remember a Celtics player who accomplished that feat, Charlie Scott.

Charlie was aboutthisclose to committing to Davidson College, because of the strong bond he'd build with Lefty Driesell (Len Bias' college coach at Maryland).  Charlie said:
My mind was made up.  Davidson was the place for me.  But my high school coach talked me into looking at all my options.  He used to take me to watch the Tar Heels play.  Deep in his heart, I think he wanted me to go to UNC, so he was very persistent in making sure that I kept an open mind.  And the more I visited the camps, the more I became enthralled with the school.
As exciting as North Carolina was, it was equally hard to break the news to Lefty.  He was the first person who really recognized me, noticed me, and gave me notoriety.  I had gone to his basketball camp as a junior in high school and that's when he offered me a scholarship.  He told the world about me- no one had really heard about Charlie Scott before I attended Lefty's camp, but that all changed afterwards.  It was the start of a tremendous recruiting circumstance.
