Video: Celtics practice footage featuring Tristan Thompson for the first time

The Celtics big free agent signing Tristan Thompson was seen for the first time practicing with his new teammates yesterday. He was just participating in 5 on 5 half court drills, but that's a start. The Celtics will likely take things cautiously with Thompson so that his first season in Boston isn't plagued by injuries like the team's last two major free agent signings in Gordon Hayward and Kemba Walker.

It's difficult enough as is to find minutes for 3 bigs, so the Celtics can use this time to give Robert Williams more run. Thompson for all intents and purposes is only on a one year contract with the Celtics (He has a player option for the 2nd season, that unless he suffers a serious injury he will undoubtedly decline), so next summer the team and Tristan will make the decision on whether this will be a long term marriage.

No one remembers the first couple weeks of the season, but everyone remembers the playoffs, so while it might be frustrating to see as fans, don't be shocked if Thompson doesn't play opening night, which is only 5 days away now. You don't want a situation where a guy comes back from a hamstring injury and then re-aggravates it a few games in and then youre back to start.
