Celtics sign former lottery pick Devin Carter

The 2024 #13 overall pick Devin Carter played his first two seasons in Sacramento. He will battle it out in training camp for a Celtics roster spot or a two-way contract. Typically lottery picks aren't waived after just two seasons, but Carter was traded to Atlanta in a salary dump by the Kings and the Hawks had a roster crunch and enough guards.

The Celtics will attempt a repeat where they turned a former discarded King in Neemias Queta into a starting center with Carter. But before Celtics fans get too excited based on the contract terms there is also the possibility Carter doesn't even make it through training camp with Boston since Brad Stevens seems pretty intent on staying under the luxury tax again this season and every added contract will make that harder.
