Celtics now listed as favorites to win championship

The Boston Celtics have been rolling these playoffs, currently finding themselves undefeated and up 2-0 on the Toronto Raptors (hopefully I didn’t jinx it). As a result, they are now placed as the championship favorites according to FiveThirtyEight. Prior to the season restart they were given just a 21% chance to make it to the finals and a 6% chance to win the championship.

Odds on July 30th (NBA Restart Date)

At the beginning of the playoffs they moved up slightly, being given a 28% chance to make it to the finals and a 11 % chance to win.

Odds on August 17th (Beginning of playoffs)

Now they find themselves at the top of the pack, listed as having a 63% chance to make the finals and a 31% chance to win them.

Odds on September 3rd (Just before game 3)

The odds are updated daily, but Celtics fans should certainly be happy with this current probability. Still, there is much work to be done for the team and the odds mean nothing unless we see banner 18 hanging from the TD Garden rafters when the 2021 season begins. The Celtics are looking to go up 3-0 on the Raptors tonight at 6:30 PM and just about solidify their spot in the Eastern Conference Finals (again, sorry if I jinxed it).
