If there's any athlete in the history of Bostons sports that has deserved a statue the most, it's Bill fucking Russell.
The man who brought this city 11 championship rings, and got no thanks for it, has finally had his day. It took a lot to convince the bitter Russell who dealt with a racist Boston in the 50s and 60s to come back to the city for it, but he's here, and here's his statue.
Fucking beautiful. I can't wait to head to City Plaza and see it myself.
