Jeremiah Rivers is not happy with Bill Simmons calling out his dad
If you went to bed before the final few picks of the NBA draft last night, you missed some very entertaining stuff. It all began when Bill Simmons sent out this tweet yesterday afternoon:
That rumored Celtics-Nets trade is so bad for Boston that Doc Rivers just quit on the Celtics again.

Late in the second round of ESPN's draft coverage Shelly Smith asked Rivers what he though of Simmons' statement that he'd "quit on the Celtics." Doc responded with this:
“I would like to call him an idiot, but I’m too classy for that. I mean that's just his opinion, that didn't happen. He really needs to know the whole truth, which he doesn’t.”
What followed was some pretty awkward television back at the draft desk with Rece Davis, Jay Bilas, Jalen Rose, and Simmons himself (watch the faces of Bilas and Rose):
Jeremiah Rivers (son of Doc and a member of the Celtics NBDL affiliate Maine Red Claws) took offense to Simmon's "the truth keeps changing" and "just own it" comments, and decided to come to his father's defense via a fairly spectacular twitter rant:
@BillSimmons @espn My father has never quit anything in his life. He now has an NBA Championship, and helped in rejuvenating the Celtics.

@BillSimmons @espn That’s why he is 3rd winningest coach in Celtics history. Those are just credentials, but you already know this.

@BillSimmons @espn Your the same guy who was trying to run my dad out of town when it seemed like the Celtics were down and out.
— Jeremiah Rivers (@JRivers25) June 28, 2013
@BillSimmons @espn Then you praised him like GOD himself when he helped turn things around. Where is your loyalty.

@BillSimmons @espn You know nothing about winning, about sacrifice, and being a champion. You sit behind a desk and pick on people.
— Jeremiah Rivers (@JRivers25) June 28, 2013
@BillSimmons @espn .You are a Internet bully. There is a reason nobody will side with you. They like my dad better than you.
— Jeremiah Rivers (@JRivers25) June 28, 2013
@BillSimmons @espn Magic, Wilbon, Shaq, Ernie, etc… They know my father and they know about being a professional at the highest LEVEL.
— Jeremiah Rivers (@JRivers25) June 28, 2013
@BillSimmons @espn If you don’t have all the facts, which you clearly DON’T, I suggest you sit down and shut up. Good day sir.

Sticking up for your dad is always cool in my book, but I think Jeremiah could have gotten his point across in 6 or 7 tweets instead of 8.
