Doc introduced in LA: 'At this point of my life, that's the only reason I'm coaching, is to try to win titles.'
After weeks of speculation and rumors, deals falling through, deals coming back to life and finally an agreement; Doc Rivers finally spoke today.
Rivers was introduced as Clippers coach, answering questions in a polo, as "all his suits are in Boston". He asked to keep most of the questions "Clippers related" although he did give some insight into his departure from Boston. He echoed what Danny Ainge said yesterday, saying it was amicable and that there were times that he thought the deal was dead, and was set to return to the Celtics.
Here are some highlights, transcribed by Baxter Holmes of the Boston Globe.
