Marquis Daniels must be found!
Love ya T.A, but if your ankle isn't right you're not that useful. We need you to be able to stick Kobe. It sucks that you got injured again, especially at this time, but those are the breaks I guess. Love ya Nate, but you're not big enough to guard Kobe. You should be able to spell Rondo as the backup point guard, but you can't be a backup wing. Love ya Finley, but unfortunately you're just too old and slow to stick with quicker guards. If Tony is hurt we only have one option on the bench to cover Kobe Bryant and his name is Marquis Daniels.
Marquis was the consolation prize last Summer when we fell short of signing Grant Hill (even though Gary Tanguay told us it was a done deal). Marquis started the season off strong, earning the nickname "Nasty" on CelticsLife. He was the type of player that just helped your team. Non explosive, but he had a Pierce like smoothness to his game. Then he got injured (as he often has before) and hasn't really been heard from since (with the exception of his neck piece and his role in Avatar).
After T.A. got injured in the Orlando series and continued to be ineffective Doc hinted that it might be time for a change. Time to dust off #7. Well Marquis got into a game and promptly got a concussion and hasn't been seen from since. Where as Big Baby played the following game after his concussion, Marquis remains inactive. If the doctors are refusing to grant Marquis clearance then that's one thing, but if he is physically able to give it a go, it's time to step up Marquis. Doc chose Tony over you at the end of the season, because you weren't playing with energy and heart.
You have a second chance now. You played in the Finals before (back in Dallas). We know you can stick the self dubbed "Black Mamba." We can't have Pierce and Ray wasting all their energy and fouls on Kobe. Tony's ankle isn't right. It's time for you to go into Doc's office and say, "Put me in coach. I'm ready to play. I want to play. Let me at Kobe."
