Celtics claim Jarell Eddie off waivers

The Boston Celtics have claimed free agent forward Jarell Eddie off NBA waivers, a league source told RealGM.

Eddie was recently released by the Atlanta Hawks, and he drew multiple waiver bids before the Celtics were awarded his rights. Eddie, who has a non-guaranteed contract, could be being signed to be released as part of Boston’s allocated players to Maine in the NBA D-League.

Eddie scored eight points and grabbed two rebounds in 39 minutes over four preseason games for the Hawks.

Eddie, who went undrafted this past June was a stand out for Virginia Tech, where he shot more than 37% from three-point range. He averaged 13.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game last year for VT. He played Summer League ball with the Washington Wizards and was picked up by the Hawks before being cut when they trimmed their roster to 15.

Welcome to the Celtics, Jarell Eddie!
