Philadelphia Eagles owner reportedly among finalists to purchase Celtics
According to The Ringer's Bill Simmons, Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie is reportedly among the four or five finalists to purchase the Boston Celtics franchise.
“The Celtics - it was the first round of the buyers, that they had to cut down all the prospective buyers, and like five people made the first round, four or five people. One of the people was the Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, who’s apparently from Massachusetts.
It should be noted that Simmons was wrong this summer when he claimed Amazon's Jeff Bezos was an interested buyer of the Celtics. If this report though is accurate it's good news for Celtics fans as Lurie has deep pockets and is known as a good owner who doesn't meddle in personel decisions. The fact that he's originally from the area is also a plus.Mentioned this near the end of tonight’s podcast: Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie is in the running to buy the Boston Celtics. He’s a Boston native w/ degrees from Clark, Brandeis AND B.U. His first big company was called Chestnut Hill Productions. Huge Celts fan obviously.

Lurie's Eagles just punched another ticket to the Super Bowl yesterday. The Celtics sale is expected to be announced the first half of this year.
