Video: Jaylen Brown joins club with only two other prestigious members
The Celtics lost in double overtime last night, but that shouldn't take away from a rather historic performance from Jaylen Brown. Jaylen went for a career high 46 points and added 9 rebounds and 6 assists.
This while only practicing once since he was sidelined with COVID-19. You could tell by the overtimes, that he was gassed (even missed a wide open dunk). Makes his performance all the more impressive.
In fact the only other Celtics player to ever put up that many points in a regular season game, while also grabbing 9 rebounds and dishing out 6 assists, was one Larry Joe Bird, who did it a remarkable six times. John Havlicek is the other Celtic in the club. He performed the feat in one playoff game.
Jaylen Brown, who will only turn 25 this coming Sunday, has many more years to accomplish this a few more times. Let's hope in future games, his partner in Jay's, Jayson Tatum, has a better night. That was the only reason the Knicks even had a chance last night (and ultimately won).
Tatum had a very poor shooting night. Well I guess there was also the missing Al Horford and Josh Richardson, but again if Tatum only had a bad shooting night, instead of an awful one, this would have been an easy win for the good guys.
