As with every prior season Danny Ainge held his exit interview press conference this week. Here is the video. Someone mentioned that this year's exit interview actually took place a year and a day after media day of the 2019-20 season. Needless to say the longest in Celtics history.
Danny Ainge assesses the Boston Celtics season and how he felt the team could have fared better with a healthy Kemba Walker, Gordon Hayward and Romeo Langford. He also said Kemba Walker was never himself in the NBA Bubble which we previously posted on. Ainge definitely is a huge fan of Kemba's you can tell.
In regards to Jayson Tatum's extension talks as well as the contract situations of Gordon Hayward and Enes Kanter, Ainge responded that he wasn't able to discuss them right now due to the league's collective bargaining agreement. I wrote the following prediction the other day on Twitter:
Prediction: Tatum will sign supermax extension. Hayward will opt out & sign longer term deal w/ Celtics at less money per yr. Enes will either sign w/ another team for the MLE very early in FA or will have to accept less later in FA, possibly w/ BOS
A follower correctly reminded me that Kanter has a player option, which changes the calculus on his decision slightly.
