Report: Jabari Bird arrested on alleged assault charges

Jabari Bird, weeks after landing his first NBA contract, has reportedly been taken into police custody on charges he allegedly assaulted an unidentified person overnight last night.

Details are currently unclear, but what we do know is some kind of violent incident took place involving Bird and the domestic violence unit of the local Brighton police department.

According to ESPN's Chris Forsberg, Jabari is currently in the hospital undergoing evaluation, and "complaints will be sought against the suspect for assault & battery 209A, strangulation and kidnapping".

The Boston Celtics have issued a statement saying, "We are aware of the incident involving Jabari Bird and are taking it very seriously.  We are actively gathering information and will reserve further comment at this time."

The seriousness of the charges are a jolt to a semi-hibernate Boston Celtics community, and a dark mark on an otherwise-promising new season soon to begin.

No further details are available on this developing story, but we'll keep you up to speed as new information emerges.
