Morris targeting October 30th debut
Despite Marcus Morris stating a few days ago that he was targeting a return for this week, the Celtics will play it safe and hold off his debut at least until the San Antonio Spurs visit TD Garden on October 30th.
Scott Souza provided some insight on Morris' perspective of the injury delay.
#Celtics Marcus Morris blamed lack of training camp for knee. Tried to jump right in w/o base of work. Looking to avoid doing that again.— Scott Souza (@Scott_Souza) October 23, 2017
The six-year veteran also appeared to enjoy teaching rookie Jayson Tatum a few things in practice on Monday.
#Celtics Marcus Morris on workout session w/Jayson Tatum: Felt pretty good beating a rook's ass one-on-one. (might have been sorta joking)— Scott Souza (@Scott_Souza) October 23, 2017
Morris had a productive season last year, averaging 14 points and 4.6 rebounds per game as member of the Detroit Pistons. Boston will need all the help it can get to remain afloat despite the devastating loss of Gordon Hayward, and Morris, who played the vast majority of his minutes last year playing the small forward position, could slide right in to the team's starting lineup.
