Carmelo Anthony's ejection last night explained in great detail by referee Tony Brothers

Ok, so maybe I lied about the great detail part. In what started seemingly as a run-of-the-mill complaining to the ref after what he believed to be a bad call (it wasn't), New York Knicks star forward Carmelo Anthony was ejected in the first half of last night's matchup against the Boston Celtics. Much to the delight of the TD Garden crowd.

When it happened in real time it did seem a little quick, but we also haven't the slightest idea what Carmelo said to referee Tony Brothers. It's very possible that he made a comment about his wife in regards to a breakfast cereal. But take a look at the tape, and you can make your own assessment:

Speaking of Carmelo's wife, she inferred that this wasn't the first time Melo and Brothers have had issues:

At the end of the day the Celtics shot 43 free throws, compared to 17 for the Knicks. So maybe there was something to Melo getting upset about the officiating, but the C's have been on the other end of that so many times I just don't care. I'd like to think it had something to do with our favorite irritant just completely getting under Melo's skin:
