Guerschon Yabusele to play in China for the Shanghai Sharks
As previously speculated, 20 year old Guerschon Yabusele, the Boston Celtics' 16th overall draft pick, will be playing overseas in 2016-2017.
According to the Boston Globe's Adam Himmelsbach, Yabusele has agreed to a 1 year deal with the Chinese Basketball Association's Shanghai Sharks, and could make up to $1.5 million:
Celtics forward Guerschon Yabusele, the 16th overall pick of last month’s NBA Draft, has agreed to a one-year deal with the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association, according to a league source.
With bonuses, Yabusele could make up to $1.5 million next season, the source said. The Celtics will still hold Yabusele’s NBA rights.
The Celtics still hold the rights to Yabusele should he return to play in the NBA in 2017-2018, and it helps to create space on Boston's currently crowded roster.
In 8 NBA Summer League games, Yabusele averaged 8.2 points, 6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.
