76ers want Kris Dunn, shopping Nerlens Noel; Celtics driving up price of No. 3 pick
Which team holds the cards? |
As we've discussed previously, the 76ers appear quite enamored with Kris Dunn. Here's the latest draft hype regarding the Celtics, Sixers and the No. 3 pick:
League sources tell @chadfordinsider and me: Philadelphia is ramping up its efforts to acquire tonight's No. 3 overall pick from Boston.— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) June 23, 2016
Numerous rivals describe Philly as the most active team in circulation ... with a trade involving Nerlens Noel looking more and more likely— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) June 23, 2016
Spoke to an exec picking top 8 last night. "Boston has changed their 'guy' every 12 hours." Teams think C's just trying to raise value of 3.— Jake Fischer (@JakeLFischer) June 23, 2016
From Chad Ford's latest mock, calls Danny Ainge's strategy brilliant. pic.twitter.com/jsIKDbqMlE— CelticsLife.com (@CelticsLife) June 23, 2016
Kris Dunn has significant traction in Boston as No. 3 pick, sources tell @TheVertical. No final decision -- and trades remain on table.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojVerticalNBA) June 23, 2016
What does "significant traction" even mean? Ainge trying to drive up the price on Philly for No. 3? https://t.co/6CJ8JdQDqb— CelticsLife.com (@CelticsLife) June 23, 2016
The Sixers, Timberwolves and Pelicans are all enamored with Kris Dunn, per sources. If Boston picks him at No. 3, expect a trade to follow.— Jake Fischer (@JakeLFischer) June 23, 2016
Noel for No. 3 straight up isn't something Ainge will go for:
Market for Nerlens Noel seems to be far overstated by some. More likely he fetches a late lottery pick in a trade as opposed to top-5 pick.— Jonathan Givony (@DraftExpress) June 23, 2016
However, as we see first hand, perceptions vary widely from one market to the other:
Interesting Philly take. In Boston, many think #Celtics "bailing out" #76ers by giving them No. 3 for Noel/Okafor. https://t.co/YhrEbdlYzB— Scott Souza (@Scott_Souza) June 23, 2016
It's funny ... ppl in Philadelphia thinking same thing, that Sixers would be doing Celtics a "big" favor, literally. https://t.co/nu4hOpGCTM— Jessica Camerato (@JCameratoCSN) June 23, 2016
If Ainge pulls the trigger on something based around Noel (or Jahlil Okafor, for that matter) for the 3rd pick, I'd like to think he'll also get a future draft pick or two in return.
