Around the NBA 10/29: Things Celtics fans should know from last night



As the Celtics moved to 1-0 with a win over the 76ers in their regular season opener, 26 other NBA teams took the floor last night. Here are 10 things for Celtic fans to know:

2016 DRAFT PICK WATCH

1. The Nets moved to 0-1 following last night's loss to the Bulls. The Celtics own the Nets 2016 first-round draft pick.

2. The Mavericks moved to 1-0 following a convincing win at Phoenix. The Celtics will receive the Mavericks 2016 first-round draft pick as long as it falls outside picks 1 through 7.

3. The Timberwolves, playing with a heavy heart following the passing of Flip Saunders, moved to 1-0 after an emotional one-point victory over the Lakers. The Celtics will receive the Timberwolves 2016 first-round draft pick as long as it falls outside picks 1 through 12.

ATLANTIC DIVISION STANDINGS WATCH

4. The Raptors, who will be our primary competition in the Atlantic Division, will enter their game with the Celtics on Friday at 1-0 after defeating the Pacers.

5. The Knicks went into Milwaukee and beat the Bucks by 25. Former lottery pick/borderline bust, Derrick Williams, may have found his home, as he led all scorers with 24 points. Do we need to start taking New York seriously?

6. As stated earlier, the Nets lost to the Bulls.

FORMER CELTIC WATCH

7. Kevin Garnett played 13 minutes in last night's win over the Lakers, finishing with 4 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists. Minnesota was +12 with the Big Ticket on the floor.

8. In a battle between former Celtics making their debuts, Paul Pierce beat Rajon Rondo on the stat sheet and scoreboard as the Clippers beat the Kings. Pierce finished with 12 points and 7 rebounds, while Rondo had 4 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 turnovers.

9. Jeff Green played 20 minutes in Memphis' loss to the Cavaliers. He went 3-9, with 8 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound, and 5 fouls.

10. Brandon Bass made his debut for the Lakers, playing 17 minutes, and finishing with 2 points and 6 rebounds.
