Kevin Garnett returning to Minnesota

The Brooklyn Nets and Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to a trade that will send Kevin Garnett back to where his NBA career started.

ESPN reported the trade late last night, what held up the trade what KG's decision to waive his no-trade clause.

Given Garnett's current contract situation (he's a UFA after this season), it's probably a safe bet to say that this season, his 20th will be his last. Hard to see him returning to play for a non-contender in Minnesota.

This move is more likely step 1 in a long term plan to transition KG into a coaching/front office position with the Timberwolves where he will be able to mentor the team's young nucleus.

*UPDATE*

The Timberwolves reportedly want to sign KG to a 2-year extension.
