Update on the Celtics/Knicks ticket auction - Over $500 raised!

Last week after the marathon bombings, CelticsLife (plus PatriotsLife, Red Sox Life and BruinsLife) shared a link to the Children's Hospital Boston wish list (the list is still up and worth a look). Children's was caring for nine kids that got injured in the bombings, and the wish list was for toys and games that the kids can use during their time there.

A friend of mine, Jay Thorpe, reached out to me and offered up two premium tickets to Celtics/Knicks Game 4 at the Garden to be auctioned off with proceeds going to wish list items.

The auction ended Friday during the height of the manhunt insanity, but still brought in $500 for wish list items.

Here is a message from Jay on the auction, and in particular, on an awesome deed done by the guy who won it:

It actually worked out better than I originally expected. The auction ended at $500. An individual, Jacob, from NY actually purchased the tickets and said he could not make the game. He asked if I could find a pair of people who could really use the tickets and donate the tickets to them. One of my good friends works in the Neonatal Department at CHB and talked to a nurse in Pediatric ICU. The tickets are going to the family of two very sick children in the Pediatric ICU department.
As for the toys/gifts, we ended up purchasing 19 items for $517. We purchased a variety of items including video games, game accessories, movies, and small children toys. I have attached the full order. I couldn't be happier with the results of the auction.
I owe a great deal of the success to you and CelticsLife as the amount of traffic to the auction was outstanding.
Thank you again,

Jay Thorpe

Pretty awesome.

Special thanks to everyone at CelticsLife for letting me post this stuff, to Jay for giving up awesome seats to a huge game for charity, and to Jacob in New York for buying the tickets and then giving them up to a couple of kids who will certainly love them. Been beyond amazing how generous people have been in the wake of the bombings.

For those interested, here are the 19 items purchased with the winnings.
