Ainge downplays Rondo trade rumors

Danny Ainge, despite another wave of Rajon Rondo trade speculation, said this afternoon that he expects the all-star point guard to still be a Celtic following the March 15 trade deadline.

“I anticipate him being here for a long time,” the Celtics president said when asked about Rondo’s immediate future.

“Rondo and Doc get along fine,” said Ainge. “That doesn’t mean there aren’t bumps in the road. But I think Rondo and Doc are actually better now than they have ever been. But there are other issues that concern us a lot more than that. There’s nothing new to this.”

“These rumors have never stopped, but I haven’t made a call mentioning Rondo’s name since last summer,” said Ainge. “That was during all of the Chris Paul stuff.

“Now, this time of year you’re going to get a lot of calls from other teams,” he said. “But that’s just normal. I don’t anticipate anything happening.”
To be honest what else is he going to say, that we're actively offering Rondo around, so we'll end up having to settle for the best crappy offer? Ainge also said a couple days prior to last year's trade deadline that he didn't anticipate any trades happening and then made three, including the season shifting Kendrick Perkins trade. Expect to hear a lot of rumors these next two weeks involving Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen (KG would be really hard to trade because of his very large expiring contract).
