For Celtics, Lou Williams off the table? - Tyreke Evans the hot commodity

With only 33 hours to go to the NBA Trade Deadline, options for the Boston Celtics are narrowing. In serious need of a reliable shooter on the second unit, the Celtics may have had interest in the Clippers Lou Williams, but that may be off the table.

The names of both Williams and Grizzlies guard/forward Tyreke Evans have been bandied about as potential options for Boston. Here are ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Brian Windhorst on Lou's possible contract extension:

Extension discussions between guard Lou Williams and the LA Clippers have gathered significant momentum, and a new contract is within reach before Thursday afternoon's NBA trade deadline, league sources told ESPN.

Rival teams were increasingly resigned late Tuesday night that Williams, 31, was exiting the trade market and returning to the Clippers on a multiyear contract, league sources said.

I have seen no indications thus far that the Clippers are doing a sign-and-trade with Williams. Clippers executive, Jerry West, in his past tenures with the Lakers and Warriors has not gone the full-tank route, and it appears that will not happen with his current team.

My belief is that Evans remains a significant possibility for the Celtics, but the buyout route with a yet-to-determined player seems more plausible.
