Most of us have caught wind of how the Los Angeles Lakers were just fined for tampering.

The Lake Show was nailed for being very obvious about their intent to lure a one Paul George to La La Land once the star is a free agent, so hard Magic Johnson offered to pay the fine out of his own pocket.

Clearly, that level of punishment isn't much in the way of a deterrent - but does it matter anyway, given George made it very clear at the time no invitations were needed? Personally, I think tampering rules are stupid apart from the most egregious examples - players and teams will find a way to communicate if the interest is there, after all - but ESPN's Rachel Nichols brings up some good points in this video.
