Summer League Update

With all the free agency hoopla going on it's easy to forget that the Orlando Summer League is less than a week away.  With 2 rookies from last year, 3 rookies from this year, along with a few other additions, the Celtics will be participating in the Vegas Summer League for the first time in several years.

The Celtics signed Jared Sullinger, Fab Melo and Kris Joseph to their rookie contracts on Tuesday and so all three should be ready to participate in Summer League.  Joining them will be last year's rookies, JaJuan Johnson and E'Twaun Moore.  Moore will have a lot to play for in these games because the Celtics will need to decide whether to guarantee his contract for this year after Summer League is over.

Sean Williams, the 6'10" former BC center and NBA veteran signed late in the season with the idea of a summer tryout, will also travel with the team to Orlando. He played sparingly last season but showed some promise and with a Summer League and training camp with the team could be a nice surprise.

According to the Herald, joining the young Celtics will be:
Jamar Smith, a 6'3" guard from the University of Illinois
Stephane Lasme,  a 6'8" forward from UMass, who was a favorite of his veteran teammates and the final cut of training camp two years ago. Lasmehas since played in Israel, Russia, and most recently Obradoiro of the Spanish League. He also played for the Maine Red Claws.
Craig Brackins, a 6-foot-10 forward who played for the Sixers last year and who also played for the Celtics’ NBDL affiliate, the Maine Red Claws.
Dionte Christmas, a 6'5" guard out of Temple. He has played previously for the Sixers, Clippers, and Kings Summer League Teams. He has also played in Israel, Greece and the Czech Republic.
Jonathan Gibson, a 6'1" guard from New Mexico State.

The Orlando Summer League hasn't been televised in the past but they have streamed them on the Magic website in past years. I haven't seen any info on whether they will be televised or streamed this season. We'll post the details when they are available.
