Jayson Tatum joins Larry Bird in the record books

When you think of dominant Celtics offensive perfomances in the playoffs Larry Bird definitely comes to mind. But Bird is by far not the lone big time Celtics scorer in team history. John Havlicek, Paul Pierce, and Isaiah Thomas all were #1 options in multiple Celtics playoff runs. Yet no other player besides Bird has accomploished what Jayson Tatum did last night. Tatum with his game high 35 points joins Larry legend as the lone Celtics players to have scored at least 35 points in three straight playoff games.

Mind you Tatum accomplished all this despite a bum wrist. Excelling despite injuries was also a calling card of Bird. Tatum is aware that the Celtics only hang championship banners though. Would love to have Larry around this June to do the honors for the late Bill Russell in handing Tatum the NBA Finals MVP award. That would one hundred solidify the bond between the two star Celtics forwards.
