Celtics sitting everyone except hobbled Jaylen Brown as forward chases 65 games

Tonight's Boston Celtics injury report includes Jrue Holiday, Al Horford, Kristaps Porzingis, Jayson Tatum, and Derrick White all sitting out tonight's game in Orlando as the Celtics are already locked into the #2 seed. But the player who most needs to rest, Jaylen Brown, is listed as "QUESTIONABLE (right knee posterior impingement)." The forward is chasing 65 games played to be eligible to make an All-NBA team.

Brown and the Celtics are playing with fire here as no one will care about Jaylen Brown making an All-NBA team if the Celtics falter in the playoffs. In fact they will blame Jaylen. Don't be surprised if the Celtics need to rest Brown for a game or more in the 1st round of the playoffs (which makes him playing right now even crazier). Brown has contended that rest might not help his knee, but one thing's for sure and that's not resting it definitely isn't helping.

One would think that after Jaylen Brown made an All-NBA team the year he was eligible for an extension and that honor bumped his max contract up to a supermax deal, and after winning conference and NBA Finals MVP's, he would have tunnel vision on trying to lead the Celtics to a repeat championship, but sadly I guess not. Also, while I know that Brad Stevens, Joe Mazzulla, and Brown's teammates don't want to get on his bad side, someone stepping up and insisting Brown needs to sit right now should be happening.

Last season the NBA instituted a new rule requiring players to play at least 65 games while logging at least 20 minutes in all but 2 of those games to be eligible for All-NBA teams.
