BREAKING NEWS: Boston Celtics franchise to be sold

Wyc Grousbeck and the Boston Celtics current ownership are going to be cashing out soon. Just two weeks after the Celtics captured Banner 18 the team has just put out a statement indicating they will be selling the franchise.
Grousbeck and company purchased the Celtics in 2002 for $360 million. In the past 22 years NBA team values have skyrocketed and the Celtics are expected to sell for considerably north of $5 billion.

As a fan of an NBA team you want your owner to do have two traits. One, the awareness to not try and make the basketball decisions on their own, but instead to hire and listen to competent executives like Danny Ainge and Brad Stevens. And then two, while all team owners are rich beyond belief billionaires, you want an owner that is aware that owning a professional sports team is different than other businesses and winning should be the top priority, not just turning the largest profit. You're going to turn a very handsome profit regarless by the time you sell.

Every new owner will claim they want to prioritize winning, put the proof is in the proverbial pudding. There will be no lack of suitors for the Boston Celtics.
