Meet the Celtics new play-by-play announcer Drew Carter

The Celtics just introduced their new TV broadcast play-by-play announcer for away games this season Drew Carter. In case you missed it, Hall of Fame announcer and the best NBA play-by-play man in basketball history in my opinion, Mike Gorman, will be retiring after this season.

Similar to the late Tommy Heinsohn late in his career, Gorman (now 77 years old) will just announce home games this final season. Carter will step in on away games, allowing Brian Scalabrine to remain as the color analyst for all games.

Carter will then become the permanent play-by-play announcer next season. First impression is that he has a very good (non annoying) voice, which to me at least is the most important attribute for a play by play announcer. Also comes off as humble, which is another good thing.
