Celtics sign Payton Pritchard to 4 year, $30 million extension

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, "The deal, which is fully guaranteed, comes with the expectation that Pritchard will have a more significant role off the Celtics' bench this season."

Due to the departures of Marcus Smart and Malcolm Brogdon in the backcourt, Pritchard has an opportunity now to crack into the team's main rotation. Even the loss of Grant Williams should free up some playing time for Pritchard, as Mazzulla will need to find a replacement for the former's catch and shoot 3's.

Pritchard has shot 42.6% on catch-and-shoot 3-pointers since entering the NBA in 2020, per Second Spectrum. That ranks him in the league's top 15 among players with 300-plus attempts in that span.

Congrats to Pritchard on the extension.
