Celtics should be overly cautious with Robert Williams return

Robert Williams says he's "day-to-day" and there is some buzz that he could return for the Celtics match-up with the Golden State Warriors tomorrow in San Francisco. Here's hoping the Celtics practice an abundance of caution with his return.

While it's nice to see Williams get up for an alley-oop in this video from today's scrimmage, I'm not feeling the landing... at all. It could have absolutely nothing to do with his knee surgery, but it also could be a sign he's favoring things in order to protect that leg. When you do that, it often leads to other injuries.

For his career Time Lord has never been the picture of health. We need him 100% for the playoffs. The whole playoffs at that. We need uber athletic Robert Williams, not 70 or 80 percent of that.

The Celtics are cruising as is. I see no reason not to be overly cautious with Time Lord's return. I love watching him play as well, but there is still so much season left.

Regarding tomorrow's match-up with the team that defeated the Celtics in last year's NBA Finals, not to be a downer, but the Celtics have done well vs the Warriors in the regular season. Tomorrow night isn't some revenge game. What matters is winning Banner 18 in June versus whoever comes out of the West, Warriors or otherwise.

Golden State is a very unimpressive 13-13 on the season so far. Sure a Celtics win in the Warriors' house will be good for the team's psyche, but no one remembers who won regular season games between the Celtics and Lakers back in the 1980's. The Finals' games were what counted.
