Celtics not expected to sign Carmelo Anthony, will find internal replacement for Gallinari

The Boston Herald's Mark Murphy is retiring after 34 years of covering the Boston Celtics. Chris Forsberg interviewed Murphy last week to discuss his years covering the team and the current roster. One of the pieces of news he shared was that the Celtics do not have interest in Carmelo Anthony, contrary to previopus reports. Boston is looking to see whhat they have from internal replacement Sam Hauser and Mfiondu Kabengele.

Here is the full interview with Murphy:

Brian Robb echos Murphy's intel on the Celtics non-interest in Carmelo and them giving a shot to the end of the bench guys:

Multiple league sources tell MassLive that the Celtics are not expected to have interest in bringing in the veteran for a signing ahead of training camp. That’s not to say the team is done shaping the roster ahead of the preseason but Anthony isn’t a priority at this point at names that could be brought in. Boston likes a lot of their internal replacement options from what I’ve heard and want to give those names the first crack at minutes.
