No Celtics included in NBA All-Star Game starting 5

As expected when the All-Star Game starters were announced today there were no Celtics in the starting five. Jayson Tatum already had long odds going up against Embiid, Giannis, and Durant in the front-court. Then Tatum got hurt, missed some games, and has struggled a bit since returning.

Jaylen Brown's odds of getting a starter role decreased when James Harden was traded to the Eastern Conference's Nets, but in the end it was Bradley Beal with his league leading scoring and former Celtic Kyrie Irving who earned the two guard spots.

With regards to the reserves, similar to last season the Celtics may end up with one Jay getting snubbed for an All-Star spot. Both definitely deserve the honor, but one wonders if the coaches will hold the Celtics record against them and only select one. I think they will both get the nod, but if only one can make it, I'd like to see Jaylen selected.

The Western Conference starters will be LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Luka Doncic, Kawhi Leonard and Nikola Jokic.
