With the 26th overall pick the Boston Celtics select Payton Pritchard
With the 26th overall pick the Boston Celtics select Payton Pritchard the Pac 12 Player of the Year out of Oregon. My guess is Danny was hoping RJ Hampton fell to #26, but he got scooped up two spots earlier, so Pritchard is the consolation prize. Not sure he was projected to go this high, but I"m sure the Celtics front office will say they had him considerably higher than 26 on their draft board. Now I must watch copious amounts of video of him, so I cane get excited. Celtics will be back up at pick #30.
I know a lot of people didn't expect Pritchard here, but he plays his ass off and can really score. Smart playmaker and constantly hustles on defense despite his limitations.

His stock really rose over the last few weeks and Boston had good pre-draft communications with him.
Celtics select Payton Pritchard at No. 26. Pritchard, the Pac-12 POY, averaged 20.5 PPG, 5.5 APG, 4.3 RPG and 1.5 SPG for Oregon last season while earning both the Lute Olson Award (nation's most outstanding non-freshman) and the Bob Cousy Award (nation's top point guard).
