Wizards' Davis Bertans decides to sit out NBA reboot in Orlando ahead of free agency

Bertans in action vs the Celtics this season
The Celtics were one of many teams rumored to be trying to take for Davis Bertans back at this season's deadline. Danny Ainge decided the price of two first round picks of what could have just been a rental was too steep. Many people will say today that the Celtics dodged a bullet (no pun intended) here, but keep in mind Bertans' Wizards are an extreme long shot to make the playoffs. They are 5.5 games back of the 8th seed with only 8 games to play. They'd likely have to win all 8 games and still have a good deal of luck to sneak in.

If Bertans was on the Celtics my guess is he'd suit up for the green. That said, Bertans is the first somewhat big name (2nd leading scorer on the Wiz) to announce he will be sitting out. We shall see how many others do. Could maybe see a couple Spurs or Suns sit out since they are also long shots to make the playoffs.

Update: The Portland Trailblazers' Trevor Ariza has also decided to opt out of playing.
