Celtics let NBA Deadline pass without making any trades
Reached way back into the Celtics Life vault for this pic. Still works. |
Per league sources, the Celtics did not make a trade prior to the 3 p.m. deadline.— Adam Himmelsbach (@AdamHimmelsbach) February 6, 2020
Boston made several strong offers to Washington for Davis Bertans, but the Wizards wouldn’t budge. Washington remains committed to re-signing Bertans this summer as a stretch-four opposite John Wall and Bradley Beal.

Was a crazy day today with a bunch of trades taking place. The Celtics stood pat in the end. The Wizards demand of two first rounders for Davis Bertans was too rich and nothing came of their other reported targets like Christian Wood, Alec Burks, Glenn Robinson, or Markieff Morris.
The Celtics will now look to the buyout market. Tristan Thompson has said he will not agree to a buyout, but that was before the Cavs traded for Andre Drummond. Maybe a big like him becomes available. Then again he'd probably just sign with his buddy LeBron in L.A.
So disappointing day, but it takes two to tango. The Celtics are on a 5 game winning streak and have great chemistry. Don't give up on this team.

Update: Maybe I just spoke it into existence:
Windhorst just said on The Jump that "the chances of a Tristan Thompson buyout have increased dramatically."— Chris Grenham (@chrisgrenham) February 6, 2020
He added: "The Boston Celtics would be major in the market for him."
