Brad Stevens talks departing Celtics and the new guys
Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens is in the house tonight and he held court before the game. Here's what he had to say about last year and the losses of Kyrie Irving and Al Horford.
Stevens on last year: “We didn’t fit.”

Brad Stevens on his level of communication with Kyrie Irving after the season ended: “Not a ton. Not a ton after the season.”

Brad Stevens: "I enjoyed Kyrie. I like Kyrie, and I wish him nothing but health and success....I don’t fault him one bit for choosing to follow whatever he wants to do. That’s his right."

Brad Stevens on whether he could have done anything differently with Kyrie: "I don't know if anything anyone individually feels like they could have done or should have done. That's part of free agency. You can go wherever you want at the end of the day."

Stevens on Horford: "We loved Al, we wanted him back. Again, it’s his choice. He can go do what he wants to do and there’s a lot of factors that end up helping these guys making those decisions. But he’s a heck of a player and did a great job here in the three years he was here."

And here's Brad on the rookies:
Stevens on Edwards: “He has a chance to make impact right away.”

Stevens on Tacko: “He has the whole place buzzing and it doesn’t affect who he is. I admire him.”

Stevens on Kemba: “We’re glad he choose to come to Boston.”
— Brian Robb (@BrianTRobb) July 9, 2019
Brad Stevens on Grant Williams: “He’s one of the few that I think can change his game pretty dramatically and still impact winning. ... The guys we’ve drafted, they’ve all made a good impression thus far.” https://t.co/GtLLjAiVjm

Brad Stevens on Tremont Waters: “The only thing you could ever say about him is he’s too small. He’s super savvy. The game comes so easy to him on both ends. He gets his hands on every ball on defense, makes the right plays.”

Stevens on Tacko: "He’s got the whole place buzzing and it doesn’t affect who he is. He’s got a wonderful humility. A real self-assuredness about him. He walks in the building, dunks, lands on his feet and he’s still hanging on the rim and everybody’s talking about it."
