Cs sink late surge by the Atlanta Hawks at the Garden, win 129-120

The Boston Celtics narrowly averted a loss to the lowly Atlanta Hawks behind continued excellent play by Kyrie Irving and Jaylen Brown.

The Hawks made a game of what should have been an easy win, surging late and coming up short despite tying the game up with just under six left in the fourth quarter before Boston responded with a run of their own to put the game away at 129-120.

Already down several Celts due to an illness that's been affecting the team for a few days now, Gordon Hayward checked out early after a hard screen, as did Al Horford in the third quarter, though Al would check back in late in the fourth.

No word at present on Gordon's condition, but he may end up having to clear the league's concussion protocol before returning to the team.

Kyrie just missed yet another triple double with 30 points, 11 boards and 9 assists, Jaylen continued his domination off the bench with 23 points on 8 of 14 shooting (including 3 of 5 from deep), and Jayson Tatum had one of his better games in recent days with an 18-8-4 line.

The Marci also performed well, logging 19 points and 11 boards (Morris Sr.) and 16 points, 9 boards and 5 (!!!) steals (Smart).

Boston next faces the Denver Nuggets at home this Monday, March 18 at 6:30pm EST.
