Lost in the shuffle of a rock-bottom game, Jayson Tatum had a career night
Forgive me if my praise is fainter than it should be.
Jayson Tatum had himself a career night against the Brooklyn Nets, logging 34 points on 12-of-19 shooting, along with five boards and three blocks and dishes to boot.
Jayson Tatum had some success tonight running pick-and-rolls. Not a task he's asked to do a lot when everyone's healthy, but I'm curious what he would do if given more opportunities in that role.— Jay King (@ByJayKing) January 15, 2019
That's a damn impressive statline, but even after showing us some shiny new pick-and-roll skills, I'm afraid it will take a backseat to the mediocre play of his teammates, particularly on the second unit.
I won't dwell on that aspect too long, as it's still good to see some growth in the sophomore wing that shows he still has bonafide star potential.

In related news, Taco Jay will be debuting a new Nike sneaker that laces itself in tomorrow's rematch with the Toronto Raptors; perhaps the additional help will be what it takes to get the Celtics back in the win column, because damn near everything else hasn't helped.
I won't lie, it's pretty damn hard to stay positive right now.
