Celtics assistant Walter McCarty hired as University of Evansville coach
Current Boston Celtics assistant coach and former Celtics forward Walter McCarty has reportedly accepted an offer to coach the University of Evansville (Indiana) men's basketball team.
You can't fault a man for taking the helm of his hometown squad, and I wish him all the best, but - as weird as this might sound - there's only one burning question arising from this news that immediately popped into my head:
Can we finally hire a shooting coach now?
Best of luck Walter - you'll always be a Celtic.

While the loss is one of many this year's team has taken on the chin, it's an understandable one. McCarty has long been one of Boston's most valuable coaching commodities, and, as a native of Evansville, is more or less the ideal guy for the position.Walter McCarty has indeed accepted Evansville’s head coaching job. Cool opportunity for the Evansville native who’s been hoping for a chance for a few years. “Walter is coming home,” Evansville AD Mark Spencer says in a text.— Adam Himmelsbach (@AdamHimmelsbach) March 22, 2018
