Should Jaylen Brown be an All-Star?
The NBA All-Star Draft happened last week, and since then, three of the selected players have sustained long-term injuries. First, DeMarcus Cousins went down with an achilles injury. Then, it was John Wall, who hurt his knee. Most Recently, Kevin Love was declared inactive because of an ailing hand.
Speculation arose about who these injured All-Stars' replacements would be, and one names that was mentioned multiple times was Boston Celtics' own Jaylen Brown.
Unfortunately, Jaylen didn't make the cut. Instead, Paul George, Andre Drummond, and Goran Dragic were selected to play at the Staples Center on February 18th.
But nonetheless, Jaylen's name was dropped and discussed among some of the NBA's best.
The originator of this topic is Golden State Warriors' power forward and 2018 All-Star, Draymond Green, who stated that he thought that Jaylen Brown was worthy of one of the vacant seats.

But as we know, Jaylen wasn't chosen. Andre Drummond was.👀🌾 https://t.co/IN7UaR339h— Jaylen Brown (@FCHWPO) January 30, 2018
Shortly after the news of Drummond's nomination was announced, Brown tweeted this:
For all the geezers in the audience, those small faces in Jaylen's internet message are called emojis, and those particular emojis are displaying expressions of confusion. People assumed that Jaylen was referring to Drummond's selection in his note.🤔🤔🤔— Jaylen Brown (@FCHWPO) January 31, 2018
Andre Drummond got word of the alleged disrespect on his name, and fired back by saying, "Not sure why Jaylen Brown is confused. He's not even the top 3 option on his team."
After last night's 103-73 beatdown on the New York Knicks, Jaylen was asked about the entire fiasco. He commented on both, Draymond's props and Drummond's disses.Andre Drummond has no respect for Jaylen Brown. pic.twitter.com/IjaRanr1Xi— Hoop Central (@TheHoopCentral) January 31, 2018
So, no. Jaylen isn't an All-Star, but just being in the discussion, as a sophomore in the league, is something to be encouraged about. The title, Rising Star, sounds perfectly fine to me. His time will come. Soon enough, we'll be sending #7 to the main event at All-Star Weekend.
And I don't know if it's worth discussing, or if we should just bury this topic, but the title of this posts asks if Jaylen should be an All-Star. So what do you think? Should he? Let's talk about it in the comment section.
