Denver Nuggets reportedly exploring Marcus Smart trade
It's been only a few days since Marcus Smart has been on the trading block and teams are already making calls to the Celtics for the guard.
Denver is among the teams that has explored Marcus Smart trade scenarios with Boston, according to league sources. Emmanuel Mudiay has been made available, sources say, but the Celts covet a first-round pick for Smart— Marc Stein (@TheSteinLine) February 5, 2018
It seems unlikely Danny Ainge would pull the trigger for an Emmanuel Mudiay Marcus Smart swap, but if the C's can squeeze a first-round pick out of the Nuggets, that could push Ainge to go for it.
Mudiay is under contract for another year at just under $4.3 million compared to Smart, who will be a restricted free agent this summer, commanding upwards of $8 million. That, coupled with a possible late lottery draft pick may be too enticing for the Celtics to pass up.
