ESPN Power Index "absurdly bullish on Boston"
ESPN now places the Boston Celtics second in their Basketball Power Index. As ESPN's Chris Forsberg indicates in his tweet below, the Index is "absurdly bullish on Boston".
Celtics are 2nd in ESPN’s Basketball Power Index and it's absurdly bullish on Boston based on early returns (57 wins, 2nd best title odds) pic.twitter.com/QKbIuIbtqc— Chris Forsberg (@ESPNForsberg) November 3, 2017
The Index firmly projects the Celtics against the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. It gives the Celtics 57 wins and the best odds, behind the Warriors, to win it all. ESPN also projects better than even odds (52.8%) for Boston to make the Finals. So it apparently required a six-game winning streak to get some respect from ESPN.
Rankings three-to-seven are the Thunder, Rockets, Raptors, Clippers and Spurs, respectively. We all realize how flawed these numbers can be, but it is refreshing to see our team at the top of the NBA standings and near the top of the Power Index.

So at least for now, the above two coaches, Brad Stevens and Steve Kerr, could be matching wits and strategies both in Golden State and Boston, as the two powerful teams compete in the Finals. Far too early to get too excited, but it would be a great series.
