Celtics embarrass the Lakers in LA with a blowout win, 115-95

Coming off their biggest win of the year over Cleveland, Boston continued their excellent play with a blowout win in LA over the pathetic Lakers, 115-95

The Celtics started the game shooting extremely hot with Amir Johnson nailing the first two threes he took. They had a 35-26 lead over the Lakers after one quarter, which was the closest LA would get to Boston all game. After that, the Celtics went on an offensive rout of epic proportions that saw them score 70 points by the end of the first half. Everyone got involved in the offense with Isaiah shooting the rock well and passing it out to teammates for great looks. The Lakers, on defense looked lethargic and nonchalant. Another 35 point quarter in the 2nd gave Boston a 70-45 lead going into the half.

Jaylen Brown had the play of the half with this terrific spin move and dunk:

Now you would think the Celts would have this game in the bag coming out of the locker room. At first, they did as Boston extended their lead to as high as 31 with a 89-58 lead. However, the Lakers started to chip away at the lead as Coach Luke Walton took his starters out and put in his bench, which sparked the Lakers mini rally. The Lakers managed to cut the Celtics lead down to 95-82, but that was as close as they would get in the fourth quarter. Jaylen Brown had another two terrific highlights, one of them being an alley oop dunk on a pass off the backboard from Isaiah Thomas. The other was one of the most athletic layups I've seen in a long time.

Boston got carried away and carless with their ball movement but they clamped things down on defense in the fourth and took better care of the rock after Brad Stevens reiterated not to let up. Our starters sat for almost the entire fourth quarter and it was good to see the Celtics gather themselves instead of letting LA back into the game completely.

Here are the other two unbelievable Jaylen Brown highlight plays:

Ultimately, Boston took care of things on offense and defense late in the game and made the Lakers look like they didn't belong on the same floor. For Boston, Isaiah Thomas led the team in scoring with 18 points and 8 assists in just 26 minutes of play. Al Horford had a great game scoring in the post with 17 points on 8-12 shooting while Avery Bradley chipped in 15 points, Jae Crowder added 14 of his own points, and Amir Johnson had a great offensive game with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and two steals. Jaylen Brown also continued his recent breakout play with 16 points and 8 rebounds off the bench. For the Lakers, Jordan Clarkson led the team in scoring with 20 points off the bench. D'Angelo Russell has 17 points for LA.

A solid road win for the Celts as they completely blew the Lakers off the floor. They know move to 40-22 with a 3 game lead on Toronto and Washington. Boston now travels to Phoenix tonight to get ready to take on the Suns on Sunday afternoon. Tipoff is set for 5:00pm E/T.
