Kevin Garnett hired by Los Angeles Clippers as consultant
Kevin Garnett has returned to the NBA.
Not as a player, of course, but as a big man consultant for the Los Angeles Clippers. Garnett, who played under current Clippers and former Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers, evidently impressed enough with the limited work he did with the team earlier this year to end up with the position on an ongoing basis. Said Rivers of the training camp clinics Garnett put on last September (per the NBA's Rowan Kavner):
Evidently, the exercise was so impactful that Rivers brought KG on board officially, after having had quite the impact on the Clippers big men, including rookie Diamond Stone (again per Kavner):
It's unclear if this will affect Garnett's role with Area 21 and the NBA on TNT, though it seems unlikely. It will DEFINITELY affect Doc Rivers' reputation for hiring former teammates.

"KG was phenomenal today ... This morning, before practice, he had a teaching clinic that you would pay a lot of money to see. It was great."
KG with the Clippers today was in official capacity as a consultant, a deal signed this week. Training camp was just a visit.— Bill Oram (@billoram) January 10, 2017

"KG’s a great teacher ... He’s really passionate about the game, as everybody knows, but just to be able to hear him and talk to him about different tricks, different ways you can get open, different ways you can get your teammates open, I’m just soaking it all in."
