Celtics to meet with free agent Dwight Howard
I've got a feeling the average Celtics fan isn't going to be too pleased with this:
Story online soon with @Chris_Broussard: ESPN sources say Dwight Howard has set up free-agent meetings after July 1 with Atlanta and Boston.— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) June 29, 2016
ESPN's Marc Stein and Chris Broussard also believe Howard will talk to other clubs besides the Celtics and Hawks:
The Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics are the first known teams to secure face-to-face recruiting meetings with free-agent big man Dwight Howard, according to league sources.
Sources told ESPN that Howard is likely to meet with as many as five teams in free agency, with a return to the Houston Rockets widely seen as unlikely after Howard declined his $23.2 million player option for next season.
Boston is scheduled to meet with Kevin Durant on July 1, or possibly July 2:
Sources on @TheVertical: Kevin Durant's free agent meetings will be staged in the Hamptons on Long Island (N.Y.) Friday and Saturday.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojVerticalNBA) June 29, 2016
Presumable the Howard meeting will come after the C's speak with Durant.
UPDATE:
You can stop freaking out:
Regarding Dwight Howard, hearing that right now Celtics have no plans for aggressive pursuit. Will always listen to see if a price is right.
