Could Isaiah Thomas outdueling John Wall (again) have boosted his All-Star chances?

With last night's win in Washngton, the Celtics completed a 4 game season sweep of the Wizards. A fun story within the game was the matchup of two guards hoping to be named NBA All-Stars in Isaiah Thomas (9th place in fan voting for Eastern Conference guards) and John Wall (6th place in fan voting).

While it certainly isn't impossible that both of these players make the team (DeMar Derozan, Jimmy Butler, and Kyrie Irving are other leading guard candidates), it can't hurt to play well against your backcourt competition. Not only did Thomas go 4-0 vs. Wall this season, he outplayed him in 3 out of the 4 matchups, including yesterday's.

Last night IT put up 23 points, 9 assists, and 4 rebounds to Walls 8, 10, and 2. The only game you can give Wall out of the 4 was their previous matchup, where he notched 37 points, 13 assists, 7 rebounds, AND 7 steals. Isaiah was no slouch that game, and statistically had his best game out of the 4, with 32 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds.

With the most recent matchup coming at the time where the All-Star reserves are being voted on, let's hope it garnered some attention for Boston's best chance at an All-Star. As goofy as the game and weekend can be, with all the hard work he has put in it would be fun to see Isaiah out there.
