BREAKING: Heads roll in Brooklyn; Hollins and King out as coach and GM
ESPN:
The Brooklyn Nets fired coach Lionel Hollins and reassigned general manager Billy King on Sunday in the midst of their worst season since moving from New Jersey.
The Nets said assistant Tony Brown will serve as the interim head coach, and the GM position will remain open until a replacement is hired.
Not sure what good it will do, but the Nets have fired Lionel Hollins and reassigned Billy King. King was rumored to be out at the end of this season, but I guess Prokhorov couldn't wait another day. Of course this affects the Celtics as we own their next 3 first rounders. No players remain on the Nets or Celtics from the original trade. James Young though was picked with the 2014 1st we received and David Lee was acquired for Gerald Wallace. For the Nets they made a nice swap picking up Thad Young for KG. Still the elephant in the room has always been the potential of these upcoming picks. Danny needs to hit on them, and that task would be made easier if the Nets continue to flounder.
Prokhorov cites need for "fresh start" and "new vision." Worth noting: The all-out, win-now philosophy was Prokhorov's vision.

Expect ex-Warriors coach Mark Jackson to push to get in the mix for the Nets coaching job. Jackson has coveted that job in the past.
