Celtics are unlikely to keep all four draftees
With their first pick (no. 16 overall), the Celtics selected hard-nosed point guard Terry Rozier. |
Though the Celtics added four draftees to the team (and even considered buying a fifth late in the draft), at least one is unlikely to be kept on the roster. Via Jay King of MassLive.com:
"We don't have room on the roster for all four guys, most likely," Ainge said close to the team's war room at Boston's Seaport Hotel. "We probably don't have room for all of them. So we'll work out deals for guys to play overseas in some of the situations."
Brad Stevens rather unsurprisingly believes the team will keep the first three picks, Terry Rozier (no. 16), R.J. Hunter (no. 28) and Jordan Mickey (no. 33):
Stevens: “I'd think that all three of these guys will be here playing for us.” Hasn’t spoken to Ainge about potential moves with draftees.

Obviously, this would seem to leave no. 45 pick Marcus Thornton as the odd man out, and consequently the most likely to be stashed overseas a la Colton Iverson.
