Everything I can tell you about the stabbing incident at the TD Garden during the Celtics game last night

Ugh.  I don't really know how to cover this.  Deadspin has the best explanation of what happened.  They got their hands on a cell phone video along with a fan's account of what transpired.  Above is a screenshot I took from the clip.

The incident occurred in the very last rows of balcony section 311 during the final minute of the game.  In the Deadspin video, you can see the guy in the white Rondo jersey pull out what looks like a switchblade (but apparently wasn't) after the guy in the black Rondo t-shirt throws something at him.

Today the TD Garden released this official statement:

Fan safety is TD Garden's top priority and we operate under industry standard security procedures for every event. We are fully cooperating with Boston Police in their investigation of an altercation that occurred last night, and are also in communication with the Celtics and the NBA regarding the incident.

Tricia McCorkle
Director of Communications

And via John Waller of Boston.com:

Police told Boston.com that surveillance video is being reviewed as part of their ongoing investigation.

Boston Police are investigating a stabbing that took place inside the TD Garden near the end of the Celtics 95-92 win over the Memphis Grizzlies at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to CBS Boston.
No arrest had been made as of 11 p.m. Wednesday.

What the eff is wrong with people?  It was quite possibly the best Celtics game of the season and the "brawl" (according the the Deadspin witness) happened just as Boston was pulling out its dramatic victory.  Two of the idiots involved were even wearing the same player's name on their backs.  Shouldn't all that be enough to find some common ground?

UPDATE:

They found the guy this afternoon and arrested him.  Apparently he's a 20-year-old from Braintree who was apprehended at a traffic stop.
