Marcus Smart to the D-League
The Celtics announced that they have assigned rookie Marcus Smart to their D-League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws.
F Dwight Powell, G Marcus Smart and G/F James Young have been assigned to the Maine Red Claws for tonight's game in Portland, ME.

This shouldn't come as too much of a surprise. Smart, who made a brief appearance in last nights OT win against the Detroit Pistons, is recovering from an ankle injury that he suffered against the Pacers.
Last night was the first time we've seen Smart on the court in 10 games, but the rookie did not look like himself and apparently Brad Stevens agrees.
Stevens on Smart only playing 5 mins in return: "I didn't think he looked ready. It had nothing to do w/ physically. He hasn't practiced."

Smart shouldn't be in Maine for very long and will probably just be there for tonight's game against Fort Wayne, so think of it more as a rehab assignment rather than a demotion.Follow Tyler on Twitter: @TylerSully
